Cookie baking
There are no restrictions to the type of cookie that you wish to bake. You can choose from a variety of delicious recipes online or you can use a recipe of your own. Either way works just fine. After you have rolled the dough and cut it to your desired shape, this is where it becomes tricky. Slowly and steadily insert a bamboo skewer through the bottom of the cookie. Be absolutely careful as sometimes you may accidentally pierce to the surface. It would be advisable to have a thin flat surface as a guide to prevent this from happening.
Once the bamboo skewers are inserted into the cookie, bake the cookie over small to medium heat in order not to burn the skewers. While you are waiting for the cookies to bake, you can start preparing the centrepiece of your cookie bouquet.
Follow the following instructions to make the cookie bouquet centrepiece.
Step 1. Take the floral foam and cut to the shape of the container. It does not have to be exact but just sufficient to be inserted into the container making sure that the floral foam is just slightly below the height of the container. Wrap the floral foam with aluminium foil. If you are using a stylish glass, there is no need for floral foam. You can use Hershey's chocolate kisses instead.
Step 2. Take the container and insert some decorative wrappers inside. Use the floral foam that you've prepared and insert into the container to hold the wrappers in place. Slightly fold the wrappers over the edge of the container to make it look like a flower petal. If the container is plain, you can use ribbons or other embellishments to add on to the outlook of the container.
Step 3. Take the skewers and glue them to the back of the mini bars then allow to dry. Once dry, insert them fully into the floral foam following the perimeter of the container. Arrange the mini bars alternately to make the cookie bouquet look full. If the skewers are too long, cut them to length. Set the centrepiece aside and start preparing your cookies.
Step 4. Once the cookie cools down after baking, use the icing to create an outline following the shape of the cookie. You can use bright colours for the icing to make the cookie stand out and attractive. Then allow the icing to set.
Step 5. Once the icing have set, you can now start arranging the cookies in the centre of the cookie bouquet. If there are spaces, use the mini bars that you have prepared to fill the gaps.
The final step is just to tweak the cookie bouquet to make it look attractive and presentable. Well done! You have just learnt how to make a cookie bouquet from home and save the cost of getting ready-made cookie bouquet from a gift company. Hope you had fun creating your own edible arrangements!
